Guardian School - My Farewell Speech (10-Feb-2018)

June 6, 2005! The first day of our school. Most of us wouldn't remember it, but unaware of the long journey we started our school life. What all things have we not done in our school life! It was the first and last phase of life we got without stress and tension. Though this year was an exception because now we are under a lot of pressure due to board exams.

In this time span we were most playful and free. All our mistakes were pardoned just because we were small. We all knew that someday we will all have to leave our dear school, but I cannot digest the fact that it is happening today.

All of us have some good memories and some bad memories. I have decided to forget the bad ones and treasure the good ones. But I think it would surely be difficult for me and all of us to settle and adjust in the new environment of college. Sometimes when I got punished when I was small, I felt very bad. I literally cried as most children usually do, but when the same thing happened in 8th standard, I did not feel that way. I knew that the teacher was angry and that I should not argue with her.

I feel I am in a dream seeing everyone of us saying goodbye to each other. I sometimes feel low that we (I mean entire Std X class) would not come together ever again in the same classroom.

Many a times I complained that I don't want to go to school and that it is very boring  but nowadays I feel that I was wrong. I missed some precious days of my school life which I would never get again.

My school has made me a better individual who can now make some decisions on her own. It has made me understand myself, know about my weaknesses and strengths, helped me to choose the right path for my career.

A teacher's job is to teach and a student's job is to learn. This is what we usually feel. But a teacher student relation is beyond this. We have developed an emotional bonding with our lovely teachers and now it is very difficult to part with them. They have put in a lot of efforts not just for preparing us for the board exams but also making us self sufficient so that we can walk further in life independently.

I would like to wish my friends all the very best for the upcoming exams and future life, no matter what career path each one of us chooses.

Finally, though no words would be sufficient to express my gratitude, my heartfelt thanks to all our teachers who have been our guardian angels through this journey.

Thank you very much!
